The term "Closed circuit TV" refers most often to security and surveillance camera systems. Traditionally, surveillance systems are based on analog CCTV (closed-circuit television) technologies, typically consisting of such as analog video cameras, static monitors, switches and time-lapse videocassette recorders and connected by a complex coaxial cables. Recent technological advances have brought closed circuit television closer to computers and television in terms of complexity. Digital photography and imaging have allowed viewers of CCTV to put out premium systems that allow for more camera options and greater image resolution on monitors.
